Virginia Tech climbs seven spots in Most Innovative Schools ranking by U.S. News & World Report

Virginia Tech has been recognized by its peers for the cutting-edge changes happening on campus, rising seven spots in U.S. News & World Report’s ranking of Most Innovative Schools.

U.S. News & World Report compiles its Most Innovative Schools ranking by asking college presidents, provosts, and admissions deans to nominate up to 15 colleges or universities that are making the most innovative improvements in terms of curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology, or facilities.

“These rankings enable top college officials to pick schools that the public should be watching because of the cutting-edge changes the colleges are making on their campuses,” wrote U.S. News & World Report in its description of the ranking.

Virginia Tech rose in its Most Innovative Schools ranking from 42nd in 2020 to 35th in 2021. The rankings go in descending order based on how many top-15 nominations each university or college received. A school had to receive seven or more nominations to be listed.

In U.S. News & World Report’s other rankings, Virginia Tech held steady at 74th among Best National Universities. For Top Public Schools, it gained a spot from 2020 and stands at 29th in the 2021 rankings.
