This two day event provides detailed planning and proposal preparation tips for the NSF and NIH SBIR/STTR programs, as well as commercialization planning for Phase II and Phase III efforts. The NIH has over $1B, and NSF over $200M, in SBIR and STTR funding this year! This session is ideal for both first time applicants and award winners. While single day registration is available, we highly recommend you consider attending both days to fully understand the entire process and hear all the speakers!

Oct 16: Phase I and II SBIR/STTR Essentials for NIH/NSF
Find out if your technology is a fit for NSF of NIH funding at this workshop, presented by SBIR expert, Shannon Bass, of the nationally recognized SBIR consulting firm BBC Entrepreneurial Training & Consulting (BBCetc). In addition to reviewing SBIR/STTR basics, Shannon will provide an overview of the SBIR/STTR programs at the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. She will cover the distinguishing features and technology areas addressed by each agencies, their review practices, planning your project, writing for impact, key considerations for both Phase I and Phase II proposal writing and activities you can initiate during Phase I to lay the foundation for Phase II.
Oct. 17: Commercialization Planning for NIH and NSF SBIR/STTR Projects
While focusing on the science of their technologies, early-stage companies often overlook commercialization, which is the crux of any discussion of funding, and particularly important during Phase II proposal preparation. A credible commercialization strategy not only helps you evaluate your customers and market, it is critical to garnering the attention of funding sources. In this program, Shannon Bass will cover key components of an effective plan, how to find and use cost-effective market research to direct your efforts, supporting documents you will need and other tips for writing a winning plan.
