Radford, Jefferson College receive final approval to merge
Radford University and Jefferson College of Health Sciences received merger approval Monday from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
The approval marks the final regulatory hurdle needed to form Radford University Carilion in Roanoke.
Radford and Carilion Clinic, which owned Jefferson, announced in January 2018 that they would seek to merge to increase health sciences education. The merger grew out of a growing collaboration.
The school is expected to double the number of nursing graduates within five years to help fill shortages.
The campus will continue to be located at Carilion Community Hospital
